Hi everyone, I have a rather old laptop and need a little bit of help. When I purchased it some years ago it came pre-installed with Windows 8. With automatic updates enabled it served me well. It even updated to Windows 10 without any problems and installed the huge "Creator" update and never failed me. Then about 10 days ago another automatic Windows 10 update sent it in to a state where it would not even boot. After a bit of trial and error I managed to get to the Windows Recovery Centre and tried the options available System Refresh, System Restore, Use a Recovery Disk etc which all failed leaving just one.
A full System Reset. This worked fine, put it back to it's original factory settings and reinstalled Windows 8. Windows 8 then proceeded to install automatic updates until there were none left and instructed me to go to the Microsoft Store for a free upgrade to Windows 8.
Now it's telling me my original Windows 8 product key is not valid to activate Windows 8. Sorry for the long introduction but that's how I got to where I am now. Everything is working fine apart from being constantly reminded that I need to activate Windows 8.
Will anything disastrous happen if I keep on using it and just close all the activation requests when they appear? This thread is locked.
